  1. Have you never considered that in other countries in Europe neither of those boys would ever have been convicted? Have you never considered that similar things happen in other places, but only in your country, and the USA, does the law impune children so young of sin? And have you lastly never thought that, whereas, because you have so regarded them as guilty as adults, keeping them effectively bound by the consequences thereof for the rest of their lives, there will be among you as visitors to your very green and pleasant land those who did exactly the same as they (since unlike your cases, these have no travel restrictions) – when they were children – but who are neither convicted nor restricted. As for your taxpayers paying this money, had your system not made the mistake of naming them at the beginning (something which to its credit it has learnt from), then neither would you have had to foot this bill. That was where the mistake was made.
