Aileen was born in Michigan on February 29, 1956. As a Leap Year baby, she only got to celebrate her birthday every four years. One more slight. Another in a troubled childhood with little to celebrate…if anything.

I believe she felt cheated by having a birthday “every four years,” so to speak. I wonder how other Leap Year birthday folk feel? Did it hurt and how much? If your birthday is Feb 29, were your birthdays overlooked?

(To my knowledge, Aileen never had a birthday party, whether on Feb 29 or otherwise.)

On a more cheerful note, I want to share a photograph of the lovely Diana Kyle in Barnes & Noble, Burbank, CA with a copy of my book LETHAL INTENT. Thanks Diana for taking the shot and for sending it to me! It means a lot. Writers love Barnes & Noble sightings, or sightings in any bookstore for that matter in an era when they are harder to come by. You’re a true pal, Diana!
