Boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter was wrongly convicted of three murders. He was memorialized by Bob Dylan’s song, Hurricane (love that song! If you aren’t familiar with it, do check it out!) And, of course, Hurricane Carter inspired Dylan. Artist Richard Tomlinson drew Carter in court. Richard’s artwork from the upcoming book: The Illustrated Courtroom (co-authored by yours truly and artist Elizabeth Williams) will be on display at the World Trade Art Gallery from Tuesday April 22nd through May 2nd.
Here is one of the great “Hurricane Carter” pieces of art on today’s “Illustrated Courtroom” blog.
The book, “The Illustrated Courtroom” is now available for order at CUNY Journalism Press and Amazon.
